Wroxham 5K series final race 21st July 2016
Warm conditions faced the 14 Great Yarmouth Road Runners (GYRR) who travelled to Wroxham for the final race in this year’s series. The popular event, hosted by Norwich Road Runners, attracted a record 434 finishers.
A special mention goes to Andrew Dormer who ran his fastest 5K gaining a personal best (PB) time of 20.39. Also to Jessica Vincent who knocked a substantial chunk off her previous best to finish in 22.00. Among the awards obtained, Penny Studley ran her fastest time of the series finishing 1st in the 40-44 age group in 20.49. Lorrain Dawson also picked up a trophy, finishing 2nd in her age category.
This race was one of the ten races that forms part of the Leathes Prior Grand Prix series where athletes accumulate points for competing in specific races throughout the season. Several of the GYRR members are doing very well with some currently placed in the top 3 for their age groups. The next race in the Grand Prix is the Great Yarmouth Half marathon on Sunday 14th August. It’s hosted by GYRR and runs through and around the beautiful Somerleyton Estate. Entries are still available. Visit the GYRR website for details.
