Kings Forest 50k Ultra Marathon

On Saturday 5th November saw 4 members of Great Yarmouth Road Runners travel to West Stow country park near Bury St Edmunds to compete in the Kings Forest 50k Ultra Marathon. The 31 mile course consisted of 4 cross country terrain laps which was tricky and challenging underfoot.
This was the 3rd race in the series, the other races being the Peddars Way 48 mile in January and the Norfolk 100k in June both challenging cross country courses which required physical and mental strength.

Karen Peck received the Grand Slam tankard for competing in all 3 events and after finishing in 3rd place in the 100k, took 5th place in the 50k. The top 5 places were hotly contested and Karen was pleased with her sub 5.30 finish.

Karen now looks forward to training for the South Downs 100 mile race in June next year.

Paul Greensides aka Super hero Spiderman used his knowledge and expertise at these events to his advantage and finished in great form giving him a time of 4.40.
Paul now will tackle the other 2 events to complete the Slam.

Jodie Lee and Mark Womack finished way before the cut off mark and were pleased with their efforts, even though they would admit to not quite enough training. Its takes determination for any long distance event so all will be pleased with their performances.
