GYRR 5 Mile Series Race 2.

"Blustery but dry and milder than of late conditions greeted the 233 entrants at the start line in the second of three evening races comprising the Promenade 5 mile Series hosted by Great Yarmouth Road Runners. The race was also the second of ten qualifying events which feature in The Leathes Prior Norfolk Grand Prix Series for 2015. The race route takes the runners out in a northerly direction along Great Yarmouth Promenade, starting outside the front of the Sea Life Centre before turning back South at the Venetian Waterways and then turning for a second loop at the Marina Centre before returning to the finish behind the Sea Life Centre. First man across the line, and as he had been in race one of the series, was Steven Cannell of Bure Valley Harriers in a time of 0.26.43, whilst first lady across the line was Sarah Peachey of Norwich Road Runners in a time of 0.34.01. Best Junior placed finisher in a truly excellent time of 0.30.37 was Tammie Williams of Beccles and Bungay Harriers. Host Club Race Director Pauline Leeves said she was delighted with the turnout and how well the series had been received with special thanks to all the volunteers, the event sponsors Sweatshop and also Leathes Prior. Craig Farr of Leathes Prior, who also ran, said he was particular impressed by the warm welcome and effort afforded by the Great Yarmouth Road Running Club and is looking forward to returning to participate in the final race of the series later in this month. on the evening of Wednesday 20 May 2015.
