Great South Run

On Sunday 25th October Lorrain Dawson travelled to Gosport in Southampton before taking a ferry to Portsmouth in order to take part in the Great South Run.  The 10 miler took place on a surprisingly hot day with 25000 runners taking part. Lorrain covered the first 5k in a time of 26.02 then crossed the 10k mark in a time of 52.04by this time it was getting hotter and Lorrain was starting to struggle but pushed on and finished in a time of 1.23.57 and still came 3226 out of 25000 runners and second in her age group missing out on first place by 23 seconds.

Bradford City Run

Myles Duffield ran the Bradford City Run 10k on 25th October, impressively finishing with a new PB time of 40:27, 16th overall and 2nd in his age category.
It was a hilly and challenging two lap city centre course involving 500 runners with many local Yorkshire club runners participating.

Stort 30 Miler

Jody Donaldson from the Great Yarmouth Road Runners completed The Stort 30 miler on Sunday 25th October.  The race was also a UK trail running championship race. 167 runners were signed up for the event.
It was a brilliantly organised event with checkpoints every 5 miles which were laden with buffet type foods and drink to help runners refuel for the distance.
The race itself was beautifully located in Hertfordshire along the river Stort and the scenery was amazing with a lot of old style canal boats.
Race director Lindley Chambers ensured he met every runner at the end and personally handed them their medals.
The route was very muddy in places along the trail and the last half a mile was uphill followed by a lap of a field to finish.
Jody said, " It was such a brilliant but hard event and to achieve Ultra runner status is amazing. I'd recommend this event to anyone entering a first time ultra"

After the race Jody also found out that she had won 3rd place in her age category in the Leathes Prior Grand Prix, topping of a great year for her.
