It was a warm day for the 35th Great North Run on Sunday. The popular half marathon route starts in Newcastle, crossing the iconic Tyne Bridge en route and finishes in South Shields. It was sunshine and blue skies all the way for the four members of Great Yarmouth Road Runners who took part.
First home for the club in an impressive 1hour and 29 mins was Marc Evans who was pleased to get a sub 1.30. Penny Studley ran 1.53 dressed as Wonder Woman in support of the superheroes. Club members John Fiegel and Paul Greensides along with fellow local runner Lee Jones raised over £14000 for the RNLI by running 450 miles along the coast from Gorleston to Newcastle. Collectively they were known as the superheroes taking part in the Great Superhero Run dressed as Ironman, Spider-Man and Batman throughout. Fellow club members Pandora Buck and Mark Watling along with Evan Mitchell were the much needed support crew for the 18 day challenge.
