Felixstowe 10 miler 25th September 201
Three Great Yarmouth Road Runners (GYRRs) made the journey to Felixstowe for the annual ‘Richard Bennett 10 mile Coastal Road Race’ hosted by Felixstowe Road Runners in memory of their club mate Richard.
As the name suggests the course was routed along the seafront and nearby roads. With a few undulations and a section of gravel pathway it was a pretty course. The wind was keen and for sections of the course it added an extra challenge for the 324 runners.
Darren honour put in his usual gutsy performance finishing in an impressive 18th position overall in 1 hour, 6 minutes and 52 seconds. Penny Studley was delighted to obtain a Personal Best time of 1.16.24, topping off a year of personal bests at every distance from 5k up to the marathon. Finishing in 67th position and winning an age group trophy for first female 40-44 was an added bonus. Paul Rivers maintained a steady pace to achieve 1.31.01 making his gradual return after a long term injury. He finished in 169th place and was pleased to be back racing.
Well done Team GYRR!
