Four members of Great Yarmouth Road Runners Club travelled to the historic City of Chester to compete amongst 2,500 runners from far & wide in the MBNA Chester Marathon on Sunday 4 October. Starting at the impressive Racecourse, the circular one-lap route took the runners out through the City Centre and surrounding villages before crossing into Wales and then back into England and finishing on the home straight of the racecourse. With fantastic help and support from the event organisers and the public all along the route, the event would prove to be truly memorable for many, not least Claire, Elaine & Simon competing in their inaugural marathon and for whom a Personal Best time was guaranteed. Not even a disagreement with a Cats eye at two-thirds distance was going to spoil Elaine's momentous day. Sadly ill-health during the race prevented Jody Donaldson from completing her second marathon but this makes her all the more determined to come back stronger in her next event. Official Chip Times were;

03:27:57 in 422nd place - Simon Bekker

04:24:31 in 1,518 place - Elaine Stone

04:32:20 in 1,669 place - Claire Baker
