Two GYRR Club Members, Simon Bekker & Jody Donaldson traveled to Buxton in Derbyshire over the Bank Holiday weekend to take part in one of the toughest events in the road race calendar. This was not a course which was likely to yield new best times but more so it what the opportunity to enjoy the many Tackling Challenging ascents and descents in some of most beautifully scenic surrounds of the Peak District. The race, already billed as being one of the hardest half marathon's you could run certainly did not disappoint. With the first three miles of the race spent ascending to over 1600ft Accompanied By bleak skies above, our duo remained undetered. Spurred on by the fantastic race and runners alike Officials, surprised to see Competitors from the flatlands of Norfolk, Jody & Simon reached the finish together, someway behind the eventual race winners, but pleased thatthey had Achieved What They'd set out to at the outset of the race, survive!
