Wroxham 5K Race 3 4-7-18
The third and final race of this popular series, hosted by Norwich Road Runners, took place on the 4th of July. Twenty-0ne Great Yarmouth Road Runners (GYRR) lined up at the start with the other 569 competitors.
Marc Evans regularly finishes first for the club and led the way for the club in a finishing time of 17.41. He is in the final stages of training for his Ironman in a peak state of fitness. The ever-improving Terry Hubbard ran a personal best (PB) time of 19.19 closely followed by Steve Baker in 19.46, also earning himself a PB by a narrow margin. Other PBs were achieved by Mark Ollett, Steph Deeks and Joanne Stone.
First lady back for GYRR was Penny Studley. In a time of 21.02 Penny also picked up a 3rd place trophy in her age group. Fran Turner was pleasantly surprised to run 23.10 so soon after completing a half ironman distance triathlon.
Many of the runners returned to the finish line to cheer in a member of Norwich Road Runners. Octogenarian, Lou Miller was completing his 700th 5k. He received a loud cheer from fellow runners for his amazing achievement.
