Wroxham 5k Race 3
A whopping 19 GYRR turned out for the final Wroxham 5k. This popular mid-week race is one of a series of 3 hosted by Norwich Road Runners and was a sell out with 627 finishers. It was also the Norfolk County Championships for 5k so it attracted a high quality field.
That didn’t stop GYRR putting in some fine performances. Marc Evans led the team home in 18.23 with a further four members dipping under the 20 minute mark. It was great to see newer member, James Carass, now in that sub 20 minute group. With a time of 19.43 he was the 3rd quickest for the club and he set a new PB; great work James.
Other members recording PBs were Jo Anverali, Steven Baker, Vicky Quantrill, Rob Bailey and Emma Dawson. Great work guys especially on yet another warm, muggy night.
Steven Baker rounded up a team of 15 workmates from the Digital Phone Company to take on a corporate challenge. He led his colleagues home in a superb time of 19.42 supporting the Special Olympics Norfolk in the process.
Individually, GYRR members won 4 age group prizes. Vicky Quantrill with 2nd in 40-44 and a silver County medal, Penny Studley 3rd in 40-44 and a County Bronze, Jo Anverali 3rd with a Bronze in the 45-49 and Pauline Leeves 3rd and Bronze in the 55-59 age category.
Together Vicky, Penny and Jo won the County Gold team award for the Vets ladies. Full results for GYRR as below:
