Worstead Festival 5-mile road race 27-7-18
Twelve Great Yarmouth Road Runners (GYRR) braved the sweltering temperatures to participate in the Worstead 5 mile road race. In it’s 30th anniversary year it was a sell-out event with 381 finishers on the night. Set in the evening made no difference as competitors started with a temperature of 32 degrees.
Hosts, North Norfolk Beach Runners, put on extra water stops to ensure runners were safely hydrated on the scenic countryside course.
Marc Evans ran an impressive 30.20 to lead the GYRR team home. Highlights include Andrew Dormer who won his age group. He has been training exceptionally hard which is starting to show in his results. Also, Anna Coulborn, who was 2nd in her age group. Congratulations to them both. They took away a cash prize which will undoubtedly be reinvested into their next race entry.
Another highlight was to see Anita Betts finish with the biggest smile of the night, although she insists that she wasn’t enjoying the hot muggy conditions as much as her face led us to believe.
Well done team GYRR. Full GYRR results below:
