Venice 10k 22-10-17
It was an early start for the Venice 10K starting at 8.30am which proved a challenge in itself to get from the hotel to the start line. All nine of us however managed to be there in time for the pre-race warm up in true Italian style. The course took us from San Giuliano Park outside of Venice, along the 4Km causeway into Venice itself and then over a specially built pontoon bridge on the Gran Canal.
The race was advertised as a 10K but everyone who ran it recorded a distance of just sub 11k, which is reflected in the completion times. Special congratulations go to Judith Nickerson who completed her first competitive 10K run and an international one at that! The runners then all stayed in Venice to cheer on their colleagues who were running the marathon and give them the welcome they deserved.
Runners chip times. Ian Tooley 51.05, Nicola Baker 51.10, James Chaplin-Madden 52.49, Kerstin Langer 55.33, Andreas Brodbeck 55.55, Emma Dawson 58.17, Lorrain Dawson 58.18, Cathy Tooley 1:12.12, Judith Nickerson 1:12.12
