Valentine 10k 17-2-19
Thank you to Norfolk Gazelles for hosting this sell-out 10k road race which started and finished at Easton College. The sun shone and the marshals gave positive encouragement around the course to help the 21 GYRRs complete the course along with the 573 other competitors.
This race was the 2nd race in the calendar counting towards the Sportlink Grand Prix series and doubled up as the Norfolk County 10k championship.
Congratulations to Andrew Dormer who won his age group and the County gold. John Bone also triumphed in his age group, running his quickest 10k in a few years. Anna Coulborn and Penny Studley both came 2nd in their respective age groups whilst adding a silver County medal to the collection too.
Personal Bests (PBs) awaited Gareth Davies, James Ludlam and Alison Bilyard; fine running guys!
The biggest smile of the day was raised when Chris Tyrell started his sprint finish a little prematurely. He saw the start in sight and accelerated considerably. He soon realised that the start and finish areas were not in the same place and still had 100 metres of gruelling uphill to reach the end.
