Roger Wing Trophy winner April 2017
Every year the Bungay Black Dog Running Club race committee awards the Roger Wing Trophy to a runner who completes the Bungay Marathon in a manner they consider best epitomises the ‘spirit of the Marathon’ (ie someone who runs it, and is a bit special).
This year we awarded the trophy to Lisa Smith (pictured below with some of the Black Dogs at last Wednesday's GYRR 5 miler) of Great Yarmouth Road Runners who is a partially sighted runner. The Roger Wing Trophy was presented to BBDRC, in his memory, by his daughter Kimberly.
Roger was, in the late 90s and early 00s a major driving force within the club as well as being, for some time, chairman. He died unexpectedly in 2005. He was an enthusiastic clubman and keen middle of the pack runner, competing at most distances and, until his untimely death, heavily involved in race organisation.

Congratulations to our very own Lisa Smith who continues to inspire and amaze us!
