Seville Marathon 2017 - Race Report

Race Report from GYRR member Ivan Lees.

It is probably the flattest course in Europe - so many participants were chasing a PB if not me!  The weather conditions were ideal for marathon running - cool and bright at the 8 30 start. About 14 000 started the race outside the Olympic Stadium in Seville. The race followed an interesting route around the city passing many historic sites.

I started well and kept up a reasonable pace until around the 31k mark where I suffered from painful cramp. A passer-by kindly gave me an emergency leg massage and I was able to re-join the race. I managed to complete it in a time of 4 hours 15 mins so I was not too disappointed!

I would recommend this marathon to anyone who enjoys an International challenge- but it would certainly be helpful able to speak Spanish more fluently than me!
