Chase the Train
Sunday 20th May 2018
Seven ladies represented the Great Yarmouth Road Runners on Sunday May 20th at ‘Chase the Train’ Aylsham to Wroxham.
With a start time of 12.30pm, the temperature had risen and the sun was out at The Bure Valley Railway in Aylsham. Great weather for the tourists. However, it was a little warm for the 200 runners taking part in the race.
The route took the runners along an 8.9 mile narrow path alongside the railway line to Wroxham. The train passed about 20 minutes in to the run with plenty of supporters on to encourage everyone. The scenery was beautiful on route but the terrain was a little rough in places. A few stumbles on the way were had by many of the runners including one lady who had fallen quite badly just ahead of Fiona Williams. Fiona stopped to help the lady giving her fluids and sweets along with a couple of other runners. This did add an extra 6 minutes to Fiona’s finish time but she was not going to leave the lady lying on the floor in pain. Well done Fiona!
All seven ladies ran a superb race bringing home some great finishing times.
