Blackpool 10k 7-7-19
On a warm sunny weekend in Blackpool Andrew Thomas took on the promenade summer 10k.
The course was advertised as fast and flat and very nearly lived up to its billing.
The race kicked off at 9.30 hosted by Flyde Coast Runners and headed towards the north pier then turning onto the sea wall. After a mile we switched from lower to upper proms with an up and down patch including a gradual upwards half mile slope. We turned back onto the seawall with around 3 miles of flat terrain towards the north pier. The finish line appeared just up a steep hill with the last 0.2 miles an attempted sprint finish as I saw valuable seconds ticking down.
Andrew ran his fastest 10k of the year and equalled his 10k PB from last year which was posted on a flat course.
